Iconic images
scream
this is one of the most iconic pieces of imagery within the horror genre, it has grown massively in popularity through multiple forms of media and in some cases is considered the face of the horror genre. although it being a very basic idea it is the most recognised worldwide. The mask alone is now what the movie is remembered for, if you were to ask anyone what they know about the movie scream they would most likely refer to the mask. the reason why this killer became so iconic within the horror industry is because all of the killers had some sort of monstrous characteristic about them for example, freddy kreuger which was deemed to be more scary. However as the killer is just a person behind the mask it adds a level of realism to the film which therefore created lots of fear amongst the audience of this movie. |
Halloween
this is a very iconic piece of imagery from the movie halloween, it incorporates one of the most iconic and popular murder weapons which is the knife, however in the background behind the knife we see a face on a pumpkin, this is a very clever idea because the pumpkin and the knife blend in together and the knife appears to be a part of the pumpkin, also the use of the pumpkin is also very clever as on halloween everyone usually carves a pumpkin as decoration which links very nicely to the title of the movie. |
our iconic image ideas
The mask
The mask a shot that we wanted to look iconic as its an important prop in the trailer as it conceals the identity of the killer and shows that the identity of the killer or killers will not be revealed in trailer or potentially in the film. also by using a mask it wont give away a massive part for the plot of the film ot will allow the audience to interpret their own ideas of what they think the movie will include, which could encourage them to watch the film to find out what really happens. |
Brand identity
Brand Identity is how a business wants to come across towards its consumers. The components of a brand include a logo, title and tagline. These are each created by the company in order to be remembered.
Taglines
'Do you believe in ghosts?'
the plot of this movie is about a myth of woman who is haunting the house she used to live in. This is why this is a ver clever tagline as its a rhetorical question, which means that they are asking the audience the question of wether they believe in ghosts or not to set them up for the film. The tagline is not hard to understand nor is it to long and gives away the plot. The only thing that the tagline gives away is that it may include ghosts, this is why the tagline is so effective. using a tagline likes allows the audience to become more involved with the film. |
Our tagline idea
'Take care around him'
We decided to go with this tagline as our final idea as we felt that it fit in with the overall theme of the film really well. It partially explains the link between being a 'care'taker and taking care around him as a play on words. we decided on using this one as it is a lot more memorable than the other taglines we tried, the tagline is short, snappy and doesnt give to much away about the plot which leaves the audience in a sense of mystery about the film.
