Why is time of day important to filming?
It is really important to chose the time of day very carefully when thinking about the genre of film you wish to make. The reason for this is you wouldn't want to have an irrelevant time of day with the genre. For Example, the best time of day to film a horror would be at night. In mostly every horror film, most of the haunting or main slasher moments happen at night. This is because people fear the dark and get a sense of uncertainty when walking alone in the dark. It is also important to have horrors filmed in the dark because your audience is more likely to jump.
WHAT ABOUT THE WEATHER?
The weather is also important for horror films. Often horrors are shot in rainy/stormy weather. This helps to set a scary atmosphere for the scene. It can also help to give the the audience the impression that something is going to go wrong because the weather is bad. Using bad weather to set the scene can also make the audience feel more tense because it leads the audience to the conclusion that the characters are less accessible because of the difficult weather and therefore harder to help when they're in trouble. These ideas, along with the fact that bad weather makes scary noises, shows that weather should definitely be considered as well as the time of day when filming horror.

WHAT ABOUT OUR HORROR TRAILER?
We decided to have our trailer filmed in daylight. The reason for this is because the killings would be happening at a school so the school hours would be during daylight. This would also make it more realistic. This causes the audience to feel paranoid and implies that it could happen to them too! To achieve this, we made sure we were filming in mid day kind of daylight and under bright lighting indoors.
However, most of our scenes are either filmed in the bathroom of the kill house, or in the classrooms with lights and windows. This will mean that there is different types of lights throughout the trailer. The good this about filming in the kill room was it is quite dull lighting in there meaning that there was a more sinister touch to the trailer.
We decided to film our trailer during the day not only because it was convenient for us, but because it makes it seem more realistic that a caretaker is killing children during the school day. This helps highlight the lack of control the school has as a whole over the issues occurring in the trailer.
